SIBO test at home
What is SIBO and what test can you do at home?
SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) is a condition caused by bacteria from the large intestine invading your small intestine. If this balance between the small and large intestinal flora is disrupted, your health can be compromised.
Therefore, it is important to recognize and treat possible symptoms early. Possible symptoms of SIBO can include:
- constipation
- flatulence
- nausea
- stomach pain
- Vomit
- Diarrhea
- Belching
If you notice one or more of these symptoms, order our SIBO home test. This easy-to-administer breath test allows us to provide an accurate evaluation.
How does the Sibolab breath test work?
There are various treatment options available to restore the balance of bacteria in the small intestine. However, before appropriate treatment can be initiated by a doctor or naturopath, SIBO must be diagnosed with a home test.
The breath test is a scientifically based method for detecting Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO). The test detects gases in the breath that are metabolic products produced by bacteria during energy production. These gases are hydrogen (H2) and methane (CH4). These gases are produced by bacteria in the intestines and can be detected in the breath shortly afterwards. These gases can then be read using a special process, and the results are displayed as a graphic curve.
